Upcoming: Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · 6–7:30 p.m. · Zoom

An IEP can come with unfamiliar language, paperwork, and questions that follow a family long after a meeting ends. Nassan’s Place is offering The ABC’s of the IEP, a free support webinar for people who want a clearer understanding of the process.

The organizer lists the session for October 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., facilitated by Love M. Gaillard, MSW. Parents, caregivers, educators, and community members can use the official event page to access registration. Registration is required.

A starting point for stronger questions

The published event description focuses on understanding the Individualized Education Program process, navigating special education services, and advocating for children with disabilities. This is an opportunity to build familiarity, rather than a replacement for reviewing an individual student’s records with the appropriate team.

Families who are new to an IEP may find it useful to write down the terms they hear most often and the parts of a meeting that remain confusing. A webinar can help turn a broad concern into a question you can bring to your own school conversation.

How to prepare for an educational webinar

Keep a short list of what you hope to understand. For example: what information helps describe a child’s present needs, how goals connect to progress, or what a parent should clarify before leaving a meeting. Ask general process questions in a public group and protect identifying details about your child.

Have a way to take notes that you can find again. At the end, separate what you learned about the process from the specific decisions your child’s team still needs to make. Advice shared in a group cannot determine an individual student’s services.
